IPL 2025: Mustafizur Rahman Replaces Jake Fraser-McGurk in Delhi Capitals Squad
Mustafizur Rahman has replaced Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk in Delhi Capitals squad.

Delhi Capitals have confirmed that Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has replaced Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The announcement came on May 14 through the franchise’s official X (Twitter) handle.
Fraser-McGurk, who was bought for ₹9 crore in the IPL 2024 mega option, has been ruled out due to unavailability. He struggled with form this season, scoring just 55 runs in six matches. His last appearance for DC was on April 16 against Rajasthan Royals in Delhi.
Mustafizur Returns to DC
Mustafizur is not new to the Delhi Capitals camp. He played for them in the 2022 and 2023 seasons and now makes a comeback after two years. The left-arm fast bowler has played for several IPL franchises in the past, including Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings.
He brings with him valuable experience, having picked up 61 wickets in 57 IPL matches. In IPL 2024, Mustafizur was in great rhythm and took 14 wickets in just nine matches for CSK.
DC Await Confirmation on Overseas Players
Delhi Capitals, who are still in the playoff race with 13 points from 11 matches, are waiting for updates on the availability of some other overseas players. These include Mitchell Starc, Tristan Stubbs, and Faf du Plessis.
Reports from Australian media suggest that Starc is unlikely to return for the rest of the season. If confirmed, it will be a major setback for DC in their final push for a playoff spot.
Stubbs is part of South Africa’s World Test Championship 2025 squad and is expected to leave by May 25, as directed by Cricket South Africa. This means even if he returns, he will not be available for the playoffs.
With uncertainties around their overseas players, DC will be hoping Mustafizur Rahman can strengthen their bowling and help them stay in the top four.
