IPL 2025: Full List of Overseas Players Returning and Missing Remaining Matches
Jos Buttler, Gerald Coetzee among overseas stars returning as IPL 2025 resumes on May 17; GT lead points table.

The IPL 2025 season is set to resume on May 17, and several overseas players are making their way back to India. Gujarat Titans will be boosted by the return of Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee, as they look to hold on to the top spot on the points table. GT currently lead with 16 points from 11 matches, making them strong contenders for a spot in the playoffs.
Rashid Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Kagiso Rabada, and Karim Janat had remained with the GT squad during the break. Now, with Buttler and Coetzee rejoining, Gujarat are close to full strength. However, Rutherford and Buttler are also named in their national ODI squads for matches scheduled between May 29 and June 3, which could affect their availability during the IPL final stages.
The final is set for June 3, though the venue is still not confirmed. So far, six cities Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru will host the remaining 13 league games.
Kolkata Knight Riders will also get a big boost. Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell, and Dwayne Bravo are expected to join the squad in India by Wednesday. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Anrich Nortje will also link up with KKR, travelling from Kabul and the Maldives, respectively.
Sunrisers Hyderabad may be out of playoff contention, but their key overseas players Pat Cummins and Travis Head will continue to play the rest of the games. There is still no confirmation about the return of Heinrich Klaasen, Lasith Malinga, Kusal Mendis, and Marco Mulder.
Punjab Kings have confirmed that Xavier Bartlett, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mitchell Owen will rejoin their team. However, the availability of Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis, and Aaron Hardie is still uncertain. PBKS’ coaching staff, including Ricky Ponting, Brad Haddin, and James Hopes, have remained in India during the break.
As the tournament gears up for a tight finish, franchises are making final adjustments with returning overseas stars. The playoff venues are yet to be announced, but fans can expect high-intensity cricket as teams push for the top four.
