Dewald Brevis stunned everyone with a sensational catch to dismiss Jacob Bethell, claiming what could be the catch of the tournament.
In an electrifying moment during the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dewald Brevis produced a stunning piece of fielding to dismiss Jacob Bethell and shift the momentum in CSK’s favor.
The catch, which will likely be remembered as one of the best of the season, came on the fifth ball of the 10th over bowled by Matheesha Pathirana. The delivery was short of length and angled across Bethell, who attempted a pull shot.
However, the ball took a top-edge and was destined for safety over the square leg region. Just as the ball appeared to be dropping harmlessly, Brevis charged in from the deep with incredible speed.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he dived forward and pulled off an extraordinary catch, inches from the ground. This spectacular effort not only broke the crucial partnership between Bethell and Kohli but also lifted the spirits of the CSK fielding side at a critical juncture.

At the time of the dismissal, Bethell had played a valuable knock of 55 runs off 33 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes, putting RCB in a strong position at 128-2 after 13 overs.
His departure gave CSK the much-needed breakthrough, as they sought to stop the flow of runs and get back into the game. Despite Bethell’s dismissal, RCB’s captain Virat Kohli remained unbeaten, having scored 53 runs off just 29 balls, and was looking dangerous as ever.
