IND vs ENG: India, on Tuesday, beat England by 66 runs in the first ODI at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium, Pune to take the lead in the three-match series. Asked to bat first, Virat Kohli led side piled up a big total of 317 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs. In reply, England started on a great note before losing their way and were eventually all out for 251 in the 43rd over.

Virat Kohli smashed his 61st half-century in the first innings. However, he fell short of a much-awaited 71st ODI ton, and finished on 56 off 60 balls. During the innings, Kohli also completed 10,000 international runs at home.

Dhawan was batting on 98 from 105 balls and tried to get to the 3-figure mark with a big hit. Dhawan walked back with a wry smile on his face as he missed out on a much-deserved hundred. The India opener was looking good for a big score but had slowed down after reaching the nineties.

Prasidh Krishna broke the Indian record for the most number of wickets taken by a bowler on ODI debut. Krishna, the Karnataka pacer, finished with figures of 4/54 in his quota of 4 overs. Krishna broke the 24-year record held by Noel David who had registered figures of 3/21 against West Indies in Port of Spain in 1997

5. 12th 100+ Stand For Bairstow and Roy

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow were off to a flier as the visitors attempted to chase 318. They shared a 135-run stand, decimating India’s bowling attack.

This was their 12th hundred partnership in ODI cricket. They also have the highest run-rate in ODIs as an opening pair (7.04). While Roy smashed 46 off 35 balls, Bairstow fell six runs short of his ton (94).
