Rohit Sharma is determined to take India to glory in the upcoming prestigious tournament, set to be cohosted by the West Indies and USA in June.

“The journey has been wonderful, it’s been 17 years; I still hope to play a few more years as well & make an impact in World cricket,” Rohit Sharma revealed in a recent interview with Dubai Eye 103.8.

Leading his nation is a source of immense pride for Rohit Sharma, an honour he never envisioned in his early career. “Captaining your country is the biggest honour that you can have,” he stated.

Rohit Sharma further stated that he wants each and every player of team India to focus on prioritising the team over the personal milestones and that is the only way to win the trophy.

“When I took over as India Captain, I just wanted everyone to drive in one direction…it’s not about personal milestones…it is about what all 11 of us can bring to the table & win the trophy,” he explained.

Reflecting on his journey, Sharma acknowledged the challenges he’s faced during his early days:

“I have seen more downs than ups in my life, and the human and person I am today is because of what I have seen in the past, and in the downs,” he concluded.

With the T20 World Cup just around the corner, Rohit Sharma looks to extend his career and end India’s wait for a major ICC title.
