CSK’s Coach Joins Pakistan’s Coaching Staff for T20 World Cup 2024
David Reid has been appointed as the new mental and skill conditioning coach for Pakistan Cricket Team.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has bolstered their coaching staff ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 with the appointment of David Reid as the new mental and skill conditioning coach for the national men’s team.
Reid, a New Zealander currently associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK), will join the Pakistan squad before their T20I series in England, which acts as a warm-up for the biennial tournament.
The T20 World Cup will be held in the West Indies and the United States next month. This isn’t the only new addition to the coaching staff. The PCB has also brought in former Australian cricketer Simon Helmot as the new fielding coach.
According to an official PCB statement, both Reid and Helmot were brought on board based on the recommendation of the newly appointed head coach, Gary Kirsten. Kirsten, a South African batting legend, recently signed a two-year contract as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach.
His tenure will see him oversee major ICC events like the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 and the 2025 Champions Trophy. As part of their T20 World Cup preparations, Pakistan will play a four-match T20I series in England between May 22 and 30, visiting four different venues.
Following the England series, Babar Azam and his team will then head to the United States for the T20 World Cup. Their campaign kicks off with a match against the host nation on June 6 in Texas.
