The India captain reached his hundred in 42 balls and finished unbeaten on 102 off 43 balls, with 10 fours and six sixes.

Iyer’s knock helped India win the first T20I by eight wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. His aggressive innings also made the chase look easy.

The century made Iyer only the third Indian captain to score a T20I hundred. He joined Rohit Sharma, who has three centuries, and Suryakumar Yadav, who has one.

Iyer’s 42-ball hundred is also the second-fastest T20I century against West Indies. Australia’s Tim David holds the record after reaching his hundred in 37 balls in Basseterre in 2025.
