The second edition of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 kicks off on Saturday, July 6 (IST) in the United States of America. A total of six teams will compete against each other for the championship.
The six franchises taking part in the tournament are: Texas Super Kings, Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, Seattle Orcas, and Washington Freedom.
Four of these franchises are owned either partially or fully by Indian T20 League team owners. MI New York clinched the inaugural tournament title, defeating Seattle Orcas by seven wickets in the final.
MLC 2024 will feature a total of 25 matches, including playoffs. Each team will compete in seven league matches. The playoffs will consist of the Eliminator, Qualifier, Challenger, and Final, with the top four teams advancing.
The playoff series at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas, kicks off with the Eliminator, pitting the third-placed team against the fourth. The winner moves on to the Challenger match, where they’ll face the loser of the Qualifier. The Qualifier sees the first-placed team battle the second for a direct berth in the final.
