Jay Shah Refused to Comment on Rohit Sharma’s T20 World Cup Future
Rohit Sharma was the second highest run-scorer of the ODI World Cup 2023.
Since India’s loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia, many have wondered if Rohit Sharma will reclaim the captaincy for the T20 World Cup 2024, or if the management will opt for a new leader like Hardik Pandya.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Indian management have also chosen to remain tight-lipped. The BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, recently refused to open up on the matter and assure Rohit Sharma‘s place in the team.
Here’s what Jay Shah said on the sidelines of WPL 2024 auction:
“What is the need to have clarity right now? T20 World Cup 2024 is starting in June. We have the IPL before that and the series against Afghanistan.”
With Hardik Pandya still recuperating from the ankle injury he suffered in the World Cup 2023, Suryakumar Yadav has taken charge as the captain of Team India in the T20 format.
He recently led India to a convincing 4–1 triumph over Australia in the five-match T20 series, and he is slated to lead India in the upcoming three-match T20 series against South Africa.
