Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli was seen urging the Wankhede Stadium crowd not to boo Mumbai Indians’ new captain, Hardik Pandya, as he stepped up to bat in the second inning.
The booing began when Hardik Pandya assumed the captaincy from Rohit Sharma at Mumbai Indians. Wherever he plays, he faces jeers and criticism from the fans unhappy with the change in leadership.
Now in the latest IPL 2024 match against RCB, as Hardik Pandya strode to the crease post the dismissal of former captain Rohit Sharma, the crowd erupted into boos.
Eventually, Virat Kohli intervened, urging the crowd to switch their allegiance to support Pandya.
Earlier, during the toss of the match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium a few days ago, commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was compelled to urge the crowd to maintain decorum as they directed boos towards Hardik Pandya.
Regarding the tournament, Mumbai Indians had a dismal start, losing three consecutive games before bouncing back stronger in their fourth match, where they defeated Delhi Capitals.
