India is touring Zimbabwe for the five-match T20I series, starting July 6th. The Indian cricket team visiting Zimbabwe will feature a fresh squad led by Shubman Gill, who will captain the national side for the first time, having previously led the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024.
This time, India’s senior players like Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah, have been given a break after the T20 World Cup 2024, opening the door for younger talents. Players like Tushar Deshpande, Abhishek Sharma, and Riyan Parag have earned their first call-up to the Indian team after impressive performances in IPL 2024.
They will likely make their international debut on this tour. Ravi Bishnoi, a young spinner who was dropped from the Indian team earlier without a clear reason, has been given another chance. He will be eager to prove himself during this tour.
In the pace bowling department, Khaleel Ahmed will be joined by Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar, bringing a good mix of experience and talent.
For wicket keeping duties, Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel are part of the team, offering strong options behind the stumps. Shivam Dube, originally not in the squad due to the T20 World Cup, has been included after Nitish Reddy’s withdrawal, adding depth to the team’s middle-order batting.
India’s Squad for Zimbabwe Tour 2024:
- Captain: Shubman Gill
- Batters: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh
- Wicketkeepers: Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel
- All-rounders: Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar

This young and energetic squad, under the leadership of Shubman Gill, will look to make a strong impression during the Zimbabwe tour. While the absence of senior duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who recently retired from this format, will be felt, the youngsters are eager to step up and make their mark.
