[Watch] Virat Kohli Exchanges Death Stare with Asitha Fernando in 3rd ODI Against Sri Lanka

Virat Kohli and Asitha Fernando exchanged death stare in the 3rd ODI match.

Virat Kohli had a verbal confrontation with Sri Lankan bowler Asitha Fernando during the third ODI. Kohli concluded the Sri Lanka tour on a disappointing note, managing only 20 runs in the series decider on Wednesday.

Virat Kohli looked struggling throughout the series against spin. In the final ODI match, he fell victim to Dunith Wellalage. The veteran registered a series of low scores – 24, 14, 20 – getting trapped in front of the wicket in each match.

After India restricted the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team to 248 runs, they lost Shubman Gill early for just 6 runs. Virat Kohli, for the first time in the series, came out to bat during the powerplay and had a shaky start against Asitha Fernando.

On the 5th ball of the 5th over, Asitha Fernando bowled a length delivery. Virat Kohli moved forward and across to play it towards the leg-side, but the ball took a leading edge. It was almost caught by the backward point fielder, but instead, it raced to the boundary.

On the next ball, Virat Kohli defended a length delivery outside off. However, what drew attention were the antics of the batter and bowler afterward. Kohli and Asitha Fernando exchanged intense death stares, which escalated the tension.

Virat Kohli scored 20 runs off 18 balls, including four boundaries. His wicket sparked a collapse, resulting in Sri Lanka bowling out India for only 138 runs in their chase of 248. Sri Lanka won by 110 runs, securing the series.
