Shaw’s knock marked a big comeback after a tough 2024. He had started the new season with a duck against Kerala but quickly found form with a fifty and then this brilliant double ton. It also ended his 20-month century drought, his last hundred coming back in February 2024 for Mumbai.

This season, Shaw made the bold move of switching from Mumbai to Maharashtra after receiving an NOC. His transfer followed a period of fitness and discipline challenges. The move seems to have paid off immediately as he looks to rebuild his career.

“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years,” Shaw said after the match.

Maharashtra’s bowlers backed up the batting effort strongly. Mukesh Choudhary and Ramakrishna Ghosh picked up four wickets each as Chandigarh were bowled out for 319 while chasing a huge target on the final evening.

The combined brilliance of Shaw’s aggressive batting, Gaikwad’s steady century, and disciplined bowling sealed a dominant victory. More importantly, it signaled a fresh start for Prithvi Shaw and a confident stride forward for Maharashtra in the new Ranji season.
