Kieron Pollard‘s explosive cameo for MI New York ended in an unusual and avoidable run out during the MLC 2025 match against Texas Super Kings at the Oakland Coliseum.
The Caribbean all-rounder, known for his calm under pressure, had a rare moment of lapse in judgement that cost MI New York dearly in a game that went down to the wire.
Chasing 186 to win, Pollard came in after the fall of Michael Bracewell and instantly changed the momentum. He smashed four consecutive boundaries off Daryl Mitchell, swinging the game in MI New York’s favour.
With just 27 needed off 19 balls, his presence at the crease looked like a sure-shot ticket to victory. But then came the moment that stunned everyone — off the fifth delivery of the 17th over, Pollard nudged the ball past the bowler and set off for a single.
He started strong, but halfway down the pitch, he slowed down, assuming Daryl Mitchell wouldn’t reach the ball in time. That miscalculation proved costly. Mitchell sprinted, collected the ball, and hit the stumps with a direct throw, catching Pollard short by a big margin.

A Six, a Shattered Window & a Missed Chance
Before his brain fade, Pollard was batting on a different level. His quickfire 32 off just 16 deliveries included five boundaries and a massive six that smashed a window at the stadium.
The power he brought in the death overs had left the Texas Super Kings scrambling. However, his dismissal led to a collapse, with two more run outs including Monank Patel and Trent Boult that tilted the game in TSK’s favour.
MI New York eventually fell short by just 3 runs in a thriller.
