Smith stayed calm and struck two fours and a six right after the spat. The crowd loved every bit of the duel as Australia closed in on the win.

Michael Neser had already set up the victory earlier in the day. The seamer delivered a memorable spell on his home ground, taking 5 for 42. His wickets broke England’s key 96-run stand between Ben Stokes and Will Jacks and pushed the visitors into deeper trouble.
Neser said the moment felt special. He credited wicketkeeper Alex Carey and captain Steve Smith for sharp catching in the slip cordon. He added that playing an Ashes Test at the Gabba had always been a dream for him.
England’s batters could not recover after the collapse. Australia kept control of the match from that point and walked into the chase with complete command.
