[Watch] Abhishek Sharma Loses Cool After Digvesh Rathi’s Signature Gesture

Abhishek Sharma got into a heated moment with Digvesh Rathi after being dismissed and given a signature send-off.

Tensions ran high during the IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, May 19, as emotions spilled over on the field and in the dressing room.

Earlier, Nicholas Pooran was seen furiously smashing the sofa in the dressing room after his unfortunate run-out in the final over. Moments later, a heated moment occurred on the field between SRH opener Abhishek Sharma and LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi.

Digvesh Rathi’s Celebration Sparks Face-Off

Chasing 206, SunRisers got off to a flying start, with Abhishek Sharma blazing away to a 20-ball 59. The left-hander was in great touch, reaching his fifty in just 18 balls and forming a dangerous partnership with Ishan Kishan. But things changed when Digvesh Rathi entered the attack.

Trying to go after the spinner, Abhishek mistimed his shot and was caught by Shardul Thakur at sweeper cover. Digvesh broke the 82-run stand and celebrated the big wicket with his trademark notebook gesture.

Abhishek, visibly annoyed by the send-off, turned back and walked towards Rathi, leading to a brief face-off. The umpire had to step in to separate the two and calm things down. He also had a long chat with Digvesh before play resumed.

Digvesh’s Aggression Raising Eyebrows

This isn’t the first time Digvesh has found himself in such a situation. He was earlier fined for giving a similar send-off to Priyansh Arya in a match against Punjab Kings.

Despite the aggression, the young spinner has been impressive in his debut IPL season. In 12 matches, he has picked up 12 wickets at an economy rate of 8.05.

LSG had posted 205 runs in the first innings, thanks to fifties from Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, along with a quick 45 from Nicholas Pooran. But two run-outs in the final over — including Pooran and Shardul Thakur — hurt their chances of reaching an even bigger total.

This match is a must-win for LSG, who are hanging on to their playoff hopes with just 10 points from 11 games.
