Sandeep Lamichhane Becomes Second-Fastest Bowler to Take 100 Wickets in T20Is
Sandeep Lamichhane is behind Rashid Khan in terms of taking the fastest 100 wickets in T20Is.
Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane marked a triumphant return to international cricket at the T20 World Cup 2024 Caribbean leg.
Facing Bangladesh in St Vincent, the young spinner rattled their batting order with quick dismissals of Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Jaker Ali.
Sandeep Lamichhane‘s double strike propelled him to a historic milestone – 100 wickets in T20 Internationals.
The Nepal leg-spinner achieved this feat in a mere 54 matches, surpassing Sri Lanka’s spin wizard Wanindu Hasaranga (63 matches) and putting him just one behind Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (53 matches) to become the second-fastest bowler to reach the 100-wicket mark in T20 Internationals.
Lamichhane, back in action after a break, had been quiet in his opening World Cup match against South Africa.
However, the young spinner came alive against Bangladesh, Nepal’s final Group D encounter. His crucial wickets, including the well-settled Jaker Ali, became his 100th in T20Is.
