Rohit Sharma Completes 1000 T20 World Cup Runs, Joins Elite List

Rohit Sharma achieved this feat during India’s match against Ireland in T20 World Cup 2024.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has cemented his place amongst T20 World Cup legends by becoming the third player to score over 1,000 runs in the prestigious tournament.

He achieved this feat during India’s dominant victory against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 5, 2024.

While leading India to an effortless eight-wicket win chasing a modest target of 96, Rohit smashed a valuable 52 off 37 balls before retiring hurt due to a shoulder injury.

Rohit Sharma Enters the History Books

Having entered the match with 963 runs, he surpassed T20 legend Chris Gayle’s tally and crossed the coveted 1,000-run mark, finishing the day with a total of 1,015 runs.

This achievement positions him as only the third player to achieve this milestone in T20 World Cup history, following in the footsteps of Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene (1016 runs) and teammate Virat Kohli (current leader with 1142 runs).
