Coming into the match against Ireland, Rohit Sharma only needed three sixes to reach the coveted milestone. He opted to bowl first on a pitch that favoured the bowlers, and his decision proved effective as India bundled out Ireland for a meagre 96 runs.
In reply, India lost Virat Kohli early, but the ever-reliable Rohit Sharma, along with Rishabh Pant, steadied the ship. He played a blistering knock of 52 runs off just 37 balls, including four fours and three sixes, before retiring hurt due to a shoulder injury sustained from a bouncer.
Notably, those three sixes propelled him into cricketing history as the first batter to reach the phenomenal landmark of 600 sixes in international cricket. Prior to this match, he had amassed a staggering 597 sixes across 472 matches.
