IPL 2024: Can RCB Still Qualify for the Playoffs? Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Qualification Chances

Know here what RCB's playoffs qualification scenarios are after their recent defeat against KKR.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) find themselves in a tight spot in their race for the IPL 2024 playoffs. Faf Du Plessis-led side has failed to win in their last 6 matches, managing just one victory in their first 8 games.

Their recent one-run defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday at Eden Gardens has further pushed them further away from playoff contention. They are currently sitting at the bottom of the points with just two points and a net run rate of -1.046.

RCB’s Remaining Games

The road ahead gets tougher for RCB as they take on the high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) next on April 25th, followed by last season’s runners-up Gujarat Titans (GT) in back-to-back matches on April 28th and May 4th respectively.

RCB will face the struggling Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in consecutive matches on May 9th and 12th respectively. They will finish the league stage against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 18th.

From here on, RCB cannot afford to lose any more games if they hope to make it to the playoffs. They still have a chance of finishing with 14 points on the table if they win all their remaining fixtures.

However, their playoff hopes will depend heavily on other teams’ results, as they also need to improve their net run rate, currently the second worst among all ten teams at -1.046.

Therefore, RCB must avoid any further losses in IPL 2024 or risk being completely knocked out of the tournament.
