Babar Azam Becomes the Most Successful Captain in T20Is; Rohit and Kohli Are Nowhere Near
Babar Azam equals Virat Kohli’s record of most 50+ scores in T20Is.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the captain with the most wins in T20 Internationals.
The stylish batter achieved this feat after leading his team to a convincing seven-wicket victory over Ireland in the second T20I of the series in Dublin.
The recent win of the Men in Green over Ireland marked Babar Azam’s 45th win as captain in T20Is, surpassing Uganda’s Brian Masaba’s previous record of 44 wins in 56 matches. The Pakistan skipper has achieved this feat in just 78 matches.
Most T20I Wins as Captain:
- Babar Azam: 45 (78 matches)
- Brian Masaba: 44 (56)
- Asghar Afghan: 42 (52)
- Eoin Morgan: 42 (72)
This isn’t the only captaincy record Babar Azam broke in the series. In the first T20I, he surpassed former Australian captain Aaron Finch’s record for most appearances as captain. Babar Azam has now led Pakistan in 78 T20Is, while Finch finished his tenure with 76 games.
