Yuvraj Singh Expresses Interest in Mentoring Indian Cricket Team

Former India all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, is prepared to guide future Indian players. He aims to assist the team in developing mental resilience for the big tournaments. 

Notably, the Men in Blue suffered a defeat to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19. 

India secured their last ICC tournament victory in the form of the Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s leadership in 2013. 

Their most recent World Cup victory came in 2011, with the host nation defeating Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium.  

“We haven’t won any tournament despite playing in a lot of finals. I was a part of the team when we lost to Pakistan in the final of the Champions Trophy in 2017,” Yuvraj said while inaugurating ‘Yuvraj Centres of Excellence’ at Merlin Rise.

“We will have to come up with plans to start winning the title shot matches. India crumble under pressure but look at Australia, they have won 6 ODI World Cups and we have just two titles,” Yuvraj Singh added.

Yuvraj Singh, the former Punjab cricketer, has also conveyed his desire to mentor young players, expressing a strong motivation to give back to the sport. 

“We will have to teach our young players about handling pressure. I love mentoring cricketers. I want to give back to cricket. When my kids start going to school, I would love to work with the young Indian players. I know how to be mentally strong as I have been through several challenges in my professional career,” he concluded.
