Yashasvi Jaiswal made T20I history for India on Sunday, November 26, by delivering a power-packed performance against Australia, scoring 53 runs off just 25 balls in the second T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
Hitting his half-century in style, he took only 24 balls, including a massive 24-run over against Sean Abbott in the fourth, helping India reach a whopping 77 runs in the powerplay – their highest against Australia in T20Is.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal joined the ranks of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, becoming the third Indian to notch a half-century in the T20I powerplay.
KL Rahul had previously achieved this milestone in the 2021 T20 World Cup match against Scotland at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Back in 2020 against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton, Rohit etched his name in history as the first Indian batter to notch a fifty in the powerplay.
Not just this, Jaiswal now has the highest individual score by an Indian batter in the Powerplay of a T20I.
