[Watch] Emotional Rohit Sharma Tastes Barbados Soil After India’s 2024 T20 World Cup Win
Rohit Sharma-led India beat South Africa by 7 runs to lift the T20 World Cup trophy.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, was overcome with emotion after leading Team India to the T20 World Cup 2024 championship, breaking a trophy drought that had spanned for over ten years.
With this triumph over South Africa, Rohit Sharma became the third Indian captain, after Kapil Dev (1983) and MS Dhoni (2007 and 2011), to lead the Indian cricket team to a World Cup victory.
Rohit Sharma was visibly emotional after the team’s victory. He was seen lying on the field in tears and later even tasted the soil of the Barbados pitch where the final match against South Africa took place.
Rohit Sharma led the team from the front, leaving no stone unturned. Though he didn’t contribute much with the bat in the final, Virat Kohli stepped up, scoring 76 runs off 59 balls. Contributions from Shivam Dube and Axar Patel helped India reach a total of 176 runs.
The Indian bowling unit, led by Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya, then took charge and ensured a win for India.
