Ben Stokes hilariously checks Thakur’s bat: The English all-rounder and the Indian pacer shared an amusing on-field moment.
Shardul Thakur, in the past few months has impressed many with his smooth batting skills. In the third and final ODI between India and England, Thakur surprised Ben Stokes with one of his shots. The incident even led the England all-rounder to ask Thakur to show him his bat.
It all happened on the fourth ball of the 45th over when Shardul Thakur danced down the track and smoked Ben Stokes for a six over his head.
The English all-rounder Ben Stokes looked so stunned with that stroke that he proceeded to check Shardul Thakur’s bat.

Notably, the right-arm pacer ended up with a cameo of 30 runs from 21 balls, with one four and three sixes.
Shardul Thakur, who had scored his maiden international half-century in the historic Gabba Test earlier this year, scored his career-best score in white-ball formats on Sunday. In eight ODI innings, Thakur’s 107 runs have come at an average and strike rate of 21.40 and 144.59 respectively including a match-winning cameo against West Indies in Cuttack in 2019.
Earlier in the match, Buttler won the toss and chose to field first. Batting first, Indian was bundled out for 329 in 48.2 overs. Despite being losing wickets in clusters, they scored a competitive total on the back of quickfire individual half-centuries from Rishabh Pant (78), Shikhar Dhawan (67) and Hardik Pandya (64).
