Varun Chakravarthy Becomes World No. 1 in ICC T20I Bowling Rankings
Varun Chakaravarthy rises to No. 1 in ICC T20I Bowling Rankings, joining Bumrah and Bishnoi as India’s third chart-topper.
Varun Chakravarthy has climbed to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings, becoming only the third Indian to achieve the feat after Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi.
The mystery spinner rose three spots following his Asia Cup 2025 performances, where he returned figures of 1/4 in two overs against UAE and 1/24 in four overs against Pakistan. His consistency helped him displace New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy, who had held the No. 1 spot since March.
Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara also made gains, moving six places up to sixth. Pakistan’s Sufiyan Muqeem rose to 11th, Abrar Ahmed to 16th, while India’s Axar Patel jumped to 12th and Kuldeep Yadav to 23rd. Afghanistan’s young spinner Noor Ahmed entered the top 25.
Among pacers, Jasprit Bumrah (40th), Bangladesh’s Tanzim Hasan (42nd), England’s Jofra Archer (13th), and South Africa’s Marco Jansen (38th) all climbed the rankings.
In batting, India’s Abhishek Sharma maintained his No. 1 position with 884 points after quickfire knocks of 30 off 16 balls against UAE and 31 off 13 against Pakistan. England’s Phil Salt moved to second after his unbeaten 141 off 60 against South Africa, while Jos Buttler climbed to third with a blistering 83 off 30.
Other batting movers included Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka (6th), South Africa’s Dewald Brevis (11th), Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz (19th), UAE’s Mohammad Waseem (20th), South Africa’s Aiden Markram (30th), India’s Shubman Gill (39th), and Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan (55th).
