“UAE Should Not Play Asia Cup” – Jadeja Makes Bold Statement

Ajay Jadeja questions Asia Cup’s 8-team format after India hammer UAE, while UAE coach Lalchand Rajput disagrees.

India’s crushing nine-wicket win over UAE in Dubai has sparked questions about the Asia Cup’s format. Former captain Ajay Jadeja felt such one-sided matches raise doubts on whether the tournament should continue with eight teams.

UAE were bowled out for just 57, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 4 for 7 and Shivam Dube 3 for 4. India chased the target in only 4.3 overs.

“There was no contest at all. UAE didn’t even play 20 overs. This isn’t encouragement but discouragement,” Jadeja said on Sony Sports.

While Jadeja expressed concern, UAE coach Lalchand Rajput disagreed. He said playing strong teams like India gives his players valuable experience and belief to improve in future matches.

India now sit top of Group A with a huge net run rate and will face Pakistan on September 14. UAE next take on Oman on September 15.
