Tilak Varma Reveals Provocation by Pakistan Players in Asia Cup Final
Tilak Varma shines in Asia Cup final, scores unbeaten 69 under pressure, refuses to reveal sledging details.
India’s Tilak Varma played the hero in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan, scoring an unbeaten 69 to guide his team to victory in a tense 147-run chase.
The left-hander held his nerve when India were in trouble and formed a decisive 60-run partnership with Shivam Dube, who scored 33 off 22 balls. Earlier, Varma also shared a 57-run stand with Sanju Samson, ensuring India stayed on track.
Speaking after the match, Varma said he always puts the country first, relying on the fundamentals taught by his coaches since childhood.
“Whatever I do, I dedicate everything to the country today. India is far above all. If I come under pressure, I’ll let the country down, not just myself,” he said. His calm approach helped him execute his shots perfectly under high-pressure moments.
Varma also revealed that Pakistan tried to unsettle him with sledging on the field but chose not to go into details.
“A lot happened in the middle. I can’t tell all on camera. It’s part of the game, especially in India-Pakistan matches. The real reply comes after the match – the best answer is with the bat. That’s what I did,” he added.
