The Hundred 2025: Rashid Khan Becomes First Bowler to Take 650 Wickets in T20 Cricket
Rashid Khan becomes first bowler with 650 T20 wickets in The Hundred 2025 opener, helps Oval Invincibles beat London Spirit.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan added another milestone to his legendary T20 career, becoming the first bowler ever to take 650 wickets in the format. The landmark came during the opening match of The Hundred 2025 between Oval Invincibles and London Spirit at Lord’s on August 5.
Playing for the Invincibles, Rashid produced a stunning spell, picking up 3 wickets for just 11 runs in his 20-ball quota. He bowled 15 dot deliveries and dismissed Wayne Madsen, Liam Dawson, and Ryan Higgins to break the back of London Spirit’s middle order.
With those three wickets, Rashid’s T20 tally now stands at 651 wickets from 478 innings. His average is 18.54, with a strike rate of 16.90 and an economy of 6.57 elite numbers by any standard. He also has four five-wicket hauls to his name.
Oval Invincibles made the most of his brilliance. After London Spirit, led by Kane Williamson, chose to bat first, they were rocked early by Jason Behrendorff and Jordan Clark, slipping to 26 for 3.
Only Ashton Turner offered some resistance, top-scoring with 21. The rest of the batting crumbled, and the Spirit were bowled out for just 80 in 94 balls. Sam Curran backed Rashid well with 3 wickets of his own.
The Invincibles chased down the target with ease, winning by six wickets and with 31 balls to spare. Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye gave a steady start, adding 34 off 32 balls. Liam Dawson briefly brought Spirit back into the game by removing both openers, but Sam Curran (14 off 9), Sam Billings, and Donovan Ferreira finished the job comfortably.
