Australia captain Aaron Finch has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup Super 12 match against Afghanistan after failing to recover from a minor hamstring injury that he sustained against Ireland.

Wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade has taken a captaincy charge in the absence of Finch. Tim David also misses out of the playing XI against Afghanistan. The Singapore all-rounder also sustained a hamstring injury against Ireland in the last match.

It is a must-win game for Australia as they can’t afford losing it. The defending T20 World champions need to boost their net run rate, and need a big win here to stay in the competition. They are currently placed at the third spot of the points table with five points from four games.

As for the match, Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and opted to bowl first. David Warner has opened the innings for the hosts alongside Cameron Green.
