SRH 2026 Retentions: Retained & Released Players List of Sunrisers Hyderabad Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction
SRH trade away Shami, release several seniors, and enter the IPL 2026 mini auction with a ₹25.5 crore purse.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have made clear changes after a tough IPL 2025 season. The team finished seventh and entered the off season looking for a better balance. Their biggest move was trading away Mohammed Shami to the Lucknow Super Giants. At the same time, they kept their key group together, including Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen.
SRH stayed firm with their top order. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma continue as the main batters. Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen stay as the wicketkeeping pair. Cummins leads the squad again, giving stability in both captaincy and fast bowling.
The franchise also kept several young all rounders. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kamindu Mendis, Aniket Verma, and Harsh Dubey remain important to their long term plans. In the bowling group, Harshal Patel, Brydon Carse, Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, and Zeeshan Ansari keep their places.
The released list features well known names. Shami’s exit frees a large salary slot and opens a senior fast bowling vacancy. Adam Zampa, Rahul Chahar, Wiaan Mulder, and Simarjeet Singh were also released. The team also moved on from Abhinav Manohar, Atharva Taide, and Sachin Baby to refresh the middle order.
Shami’s trade to LSG for ₹10 crore was part of SRH’s plan to free funds for the auction. Coach Daniel Vettori said the team will look for quality players who became available due to other teams’ budget limits.
SRH now head to the mini auction with ₹25.5 crore. This gives them room to target a frontline spinner, a power hitter, and an experienced fast bowler. The management wants more impact players to avoid repeating last year’s struggles.
