‘Small Disagreements Happens’ – Shaheen Afridi Breaks Silence on Alleged Rift with Babar Azam
Shaheen Afridi has opened up on the reports of rift with Babar Azam.
Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi has denied reports of a rift with captain Babar Azam over the leadership change earlier this year.
Shaheen Afridi, who captained the national team in a single T20I series against New Zealand, was replaced by Babar in the lead-up to the crucial 2024 T20 World Cup. This change in captaincy sparked rumors of tension within the team.
However, speaking on the PCB podcast, the tall pacer has dismissed these rumours, stating that minor disagreements are natural within teams. However, the team remains focused on playing as a unit in T20 World Cup.
“Sometimes, small disagreements happen in every family, even among brothers,” Afridi said. “But there’s nothing like that in our team. Our players listen to each other, and we listen to them too. Our job is to play cricket and bring joy to our nation.”
This comes after Pakistan’s recent 2-1 T20I series win over Ireland, where Shaheen Afridi himself shone brightly, bagging the Player of the Match award in the deciding match with a stellar 3-wicket haul.
