Shimron Hetmyer Punished by BCCI for Breaking Rules During IPL 2024 Match
Shimron Hetmyer has been fined for breaching code of conduct.
Rajasthan Royals batter Shimron Hetmyer has been fined for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct on Friday, May 24 during the second qualifier between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Frustrated by his dismissal, Hetmyer reacted by hitting the stumps with his bat. This outburst resulted in a Level 1 offence under the Code of Conduct and a 10% fine of his match fees. Notably, Hetmyer admitted to the offense and accepted the punishment.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fined Shimron Hetmyer of the Rajasthan Royals 10 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Qualifier 2,” the BCCI stated in a press release.
The sanction was imposed by former Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath, who served as the match referee for Qualifier 2.
“Hetmyer committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the Code,” the BCCI added. “He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”
As for the match, Rajasthan Royals suffered a 36-runs defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad and failed to make it to the finals. On the other hand, the Pat Cummins-led troops will go head-to-head against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 26.
