West Indies have announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, set to be played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. Shai Hope will captain the side as they look to bounce back from recent struggles in the format.
The series carries extra importance as West Indies aim to earn valuable ranking points for qualification to the 2027 ODI World Cup. The team was recently whitewashed 3-0 by England and is eager to respond with a better performance in front of home fans.
Head coach Daren Sammy highlighted the stakes ahead of the series.
“Pakistan presents a different test and challenge as we continue our push for automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup,” Sammy told India Today. “While qualifying is our immediate goal, maintaining a winning mentality and team cohesion is essential for long-term success.”
West Indies will also be keen to settle scores after losing the T20I series 1-2 to Pakistan in Lauderhill.
Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been rested, while Romario Shepherd returns to the squad after missing the England tour due to IPL playoffs. Young players like Jewel Andrew and Jediah Blades have retained their places, giving the squad a good blend of youth and experience.
