Shaheen Afridi Blast Fans for Not Supporting Pakistan Cricket Team During T20 World Cup 2024

Shaheen Afridi also urged fans to support them in these tough times.

Pakistan cricket team got knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024 as the USA qualified for the Super Eight stage from Group A alongside team India.

Pakistan had a disappointing campaign in the T20 World Cup as they suffered a surprise defeat against the USA in a super-over thriller and then went on to lose against arch-rivals India.

Although they registered a victory against Canada, those efforts were lacklustre and could not improve their net run rate. Moreover, the recent match between the USA and Ireland was washed out, resulting in both teams sharing one point each.

After this, the USA directly qualified for the Super Eight stage because they were impressive during the group stage. They beat Canada and Pakistan before falling short against India, but they did give them a tough fight.

While the bowling of Pakistan clicked on time, it was the batting that let them down significantly, with their captain Babar Azam also not stepping up on the occasion for the team.

Additionally, players like Muhammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, and Imad Wasim have also not been able to perform as batters.

Shaheen Afridi, the pace spearhead of Pakistan, has recently opened up on Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup and also criticized the fans for not supporting the team.

Here is what he said on the Crickwick YouTube channel:

“Everyone supports you in good times, but I’ve always said that fans must support us in tough times. We are not a gully cricket team. This is your Pakistan team as well. If you can’t support us during these times, you’re just like the media,” he said in an interview on the YouTube channel Crickwick.

As for Shaheen Afridi, in the three games played, the tall left-arm pacer has picked just two wickets at an economy of 6.91.
