Sanjay Manjrekar Targets Gautam Gambhir on Social Media Before He Even Begins as Head Coach

Sanjay Manjrekar took a dig at Gautam Gambhir on his recent social media post.

Gautam Gambhir is set to kick off his tenure as the Indian cricket team’s head coach on July 27, when India squares off against Sri Lanka in the first T20 of their three-match series.

Even before Gautam Gambhir starts his role, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has stirred controversy with a recent social media statement concerning coaches.

Sanjay Manjrekar has stated that the focus should always be on Indian cricket, regardless of who the coach is. This remark is seen as a subtle dig at the newly appointed coach.

Here’s what Sanjay Manjrekar wrote:

“No coach, Lalchand Rajput, Gary Kirsten & Dravid. Coaches when India won WCs in 1983, 2007, 2011 & 2023.

It’s really about Indian cricket, not who the coach is. Time we stop thinking there is a direct correlation.”

Gautam Gambhir Eyes Big Prizes

Gautam Gambhir, who served as the mentor for KKR in the IPL 2024 season, played a crucial role in leading the team to victory and securing the title.

The BCCI was so impressed by his efforts that they appointed him as the head coach of the Indian cricket team for the next three and a half years.

Gautam Gambhir, known for his candid remarks and no-nonsense attitude, is set to focus on helping India secure more ICC trophies.
