Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh Star as India Legends Crush South Africa Legends

Sachin Tendulkar scored 60 runs off just 37 deliveries while Yuvraj Singh smashed four sixes in an over en route to his 21-ball half-century.

Batting greats Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, on Saturday turned back the clock with vintage batting display and took Raipur by storm as India Legends registered a thumping 57-run win over South Africa Legends in Road Safety World Series T20 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium.

Both Tendulkar and Yuvraj smashed their maiden half-centuries of the tournament and guided India to post the highest total of 204/3 in 20 overs. While the Mumbaikar scored 60 off 37 balls, the Chandigarh-lad contributed 52 from 22 deliveries.

Tendulkar smashed 10 boundaries, including a six. On the other hand, former India international and World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh slammed four sixes in an over for India Legends.

Yusuf Pathan also hit a breezy 10-ball 23 at the back end. For South Africa, Zondeki was the best bowler on display as he picked up two wickets, but was a little expensive as he conceded 35 runs in three overs.

South Africa Legends were restricted to 148 for 7 in response as India Legends won their final league stage encounter by 56 runs. India are likely to make it to the semi-final of the Road Safety World Series.

Taking to social media, former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar lauded Yuvraj Singh, saying he thoroughly enjoyed that knock from the all-rounder.

“‘In my prime I used to hit 6 sixes, now I am hitting 4 sixes!’ Love you Yuvi! Thoroughly enjoyed that! #Legends,” Manjrekar wrote quoting Yuvraj.

Yuvraj was referring to his feat of 6 sixes in an over in the T20 World Cup against England in 2007. Yuvraj took on Stuart Broad and became the first-ever batsman in T20 cricket to hit 6 sixes. Only recently, West Indies captain Kieron Pollard achieved the feat in a T20I game against Sri Lanka in Antigua.

Former England batsman and the captain of the England Legends team at the Road Safety World Series was also awestruck by Yuvraj’s power-hitting against South Africa Legends.

“One of the most beautiful things in cricket is watching the #PieChucker hitting sixes so easily!” Pietersen wrote.
