Rohit Sharma Slams Star Sports for Leaking His Private Conversation During IPL 2024

A few clips of Rohit Sharma having a casual chat with his buddies and old cricket mates went viral on social media.

In the world of professional sports, privacy has seemed to become an increasingly elusive commodity. Just the other day, cricket fans got a glimpse of Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma standing up against what he sees as an invasion of his privacy, especially by Star Sports, the broadcaster for IPL 2024.

This all went down during a practice session before a big match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 11. A video of Rohit Sharma chatting with his former teammate Abhishek Nayar went viral on social media. Later, KKR had to delete the video.

Recently before the match against LSG, the cameraman once again focused on Rohit Sharma and the Indian captain had to request with folded hands to mute the audio but despite that his video went viral on social media.

Here’s what Rohit Sharma wrote on Twitter:

“The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days. Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket. Let better sense prevail.”

As the dust settles on this whole thing, it’s a clear reminder of the fine line between media coverage and privacy in the sports world. It’s crucial for everyone involved – broadcasters, athletes, and fans – to have open talks and set guidelines that protect privacy while keeping the game’s integrity intact.
