Rohit Sharma Clears Fitness Test, Uncertainty Remains Over Virat Kohli

Rohit Sharma has cleared his fitness test ahead of India’s busy schedule, while uncertainty surrounds Virat Kohli’s assessment as he remains in London.

Alongside Rohit, Test skipper Shubman Gill and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah have also passed the mandatory tests.

The players were put through the standard YoYo test along with the newly introduced Bronco test, both crucial measures to determine endurance and match-readiness.

The round of assessments comes after a month-long break for the Indian cricketers following their high-pressure England tour earlier this year.

While Rohit and several others have been cleared, uncertainty remains over Virat Kohli. Currently based in London, the former captain is yet to undergo his fitness evaluation.

Rohit, 37, looked upbeat earlier this week when spotted at Mumbai Airport before travelling to Bengaluru for the tests.

The veteran opener, who has retired from Tests and T20Is, last featured for India in the Champions Trophy final in March, where he top-scored in the win over New Zealand.

Since then, his only outing was with Mumbai Indians during IPL 2025. Having trained extensively in Mumbai under close friend and former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, Rohit will next be seen in action during India’s white-ball tour of Australia.

The three-match ODI series, scheduled between October 19 and 25 in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, will mark his international return before a five-match T20I series.
