Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma Get Maiden Call-Up as BCCI Announces Squad for Zimbabwe T20I Series
Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain of team India for the Zimbabwe tour.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a young and exciting squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting from July 6th.
With senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav being rested after the T20 World Cup 2024, the squad features comparatively a young squad.
Some impressive performers from the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season have earned their maiden call-ups, including Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
The Rajasthan Royals captain and talented wicket-keeper batter, Sanju Samson, who was on the fringes of the T20 World Cup squad, also finds a place in this team. Dhruv Jurel has also been picked in the squad.
The spin department sees the return of the promising Ravi Bishnoi, who will be looking to cement his place in the national team.
For the pace attack, the selectors have opted for a mix of experience and youth with Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, and Tushar Deshpande selected.
Leading this young brigade will be the talented Shubman Gill. He recently led Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024. This will be a great opportunity for him to showcase his leadership skills at the international level.
