Rinku Singh Gets Engaged to MP Priya Saroj in Lucknow
Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj met through a mutual connection.
Team India cricketer Rinku Singh got engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj on Sunday, June 8, in Lucknow. The ceremony was a private gathering attended by close family members and top political figures, with the wedding scheduled for November 18.
A Star Couple Gets Engaged
Pictures and videos from the intimate ring ceremony quickly surfaced online. The event was attended by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, MP Dimple Yadav, veteran actress and politician Jaya Bachchan, and Congress leader & BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla.
“May both of them enjoy a beautiful life together. They each shine in their own fields and will make a great pair,” said Rajeev Shukla.
Priya’s father, Tufani Saroj, shared that the engagement was a simple family affair. “It was attended by close friends and relatives from both sides,” he added.
Rinku and Priya’s Journey
Rinku Singh, 27, has been a part of the Indian team in limited-overs cricket and plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Priya Saroj, 26, is a first-time MP from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur. She made headlines in the 2024 elections after defeating BJP’s BP Saroj.
Their families have now confirmed that the couple has known each other for over a year. Priya was introduced to Rinku by her friend’s father, who is also a cricketer.
“They both liked each other and wanted family approval before moving ahead. Now with everyone’s blessings, they’re all set to begin their new journey,” said Tufani Saroj.
Political and Cricket Roots
Priya hails from Varanasi’s Karkhiyaon village and belongs to a political family. Her father, Tufani Saroj, has served as MP thrice and is currently an MLA from Kerakat. Her entry into politics began in 2024, and she quickly rose to prominence.
Seen Together at Kuldeep Yadav’s Engagement
Just recently, both Rinku and Priya were spotted at Kuldeep Yadav’s engagement ceremony in Lucknow. Priya even posted a congratulatory message for Kuldeep and his fiancée Vanshika on social media, giving fans an early glimpse of her bond with the cricketing circle.
