Rahul Tripathi Spotted Crying on Stairs After Being Run Out in Bizarre Manner in IPL 2024 Qualifier
Rahul Tripathi was the highest run-getter of KKR with 55 runs from 35 balls.
The pressure of IPL playoffs hit Rahul Tripathi hard on Tuesday night. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter, who had been playing a crucial anchoring role in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders, was left in tears after a bizarre dismissal.
Rahul Tripathi, batting at his fluent best, had compiled a valuable 55-run knock before a moment of brilliance from Andre Russell ended his innings in the 14th over. What seemed like a straightforward cut for a single turned into a dramatic run-out.
Abdul Samad, Tripathi’s batting partner, launched into a cut shot off Sunil Narine’s bowling, but little did he know that Russell, stationed at backward point, had dived full length to spectacularly stop the ball.
The athletic all-rounder wasted no time in firing the ball towards wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who whipped off the bails with Rahul Tripathi well short of his crease.

The dismissal left Tripathi visibly distraught. Cameras captured the 33-year-old sitting on the dressing room stairs, tears welling up in his eyes.
It was a bizarre batting display from Sunrisers Hyderabad as they were bowled out for 159 runs with only four of their batters scoring in double digits.
