R Ashwin Enters ILT20 Auction With Biggest Base Price Ever
R Ashwin enters ILT20 2025 auction with highest base price of USD 120,000 after retiring from IPL and India.
R Ashwin may soon be seen in action overseas. After retiring from international cricket in December and ending his IPL journey last month, the veteran spinner has entered the ILT20 auction with a base price of USD 120,000 (around INR 1.06 crore).
Ashwin is the only player in the ILT20 auction longlist with a six-figure base price, making him the most expensive option in the pool.
Nearly 800 players have put their names forward for the auction, which will be held on October 1 in Dubai. The final list will be trimmed after franchises submit their wishlist this week.
The 39-year-old is one of 24 Indian players included in the auction. He has confirmed full availability for the tournament, which will run from December 2 to January 4.
Reports suggest that after ILT20, he could also feature in the Big Bash League, with at least four teams showing interest.
Ashwin has had a decorated career for India. He is the country’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket with 537 wickets in 106 matches.
He also bagged 156 wickets in ODIs and 72 in T20Is. In the IPL, he finished with 187 wickets from 220 games.
Apart from his bowling, Ashwin is known for his batting skills. He has six centuries in Test cricket and a half-century each in ODIs and IPL.
His presence in the ILT20 will not only attract fans in the UAE but also give local players a chance to learn from one of cricket’s finest minds.
