Prithvi Shaw has officially ended his long journey with Mumbai and will now play for Maharashtra in the domestic season ahead.

The 24-year-old top-order batter has represented India in all three formats and famously led India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2018.

In domestic cricket, he has already scored more than 4500 runs with 13 centuries in first-class matches.

A New Chapter

Speaking about the move, Shaw said he was looking forward to a fresh challenge.

“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer,” he said. “I’m deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the support all these years.”

Shaw praised Maharashtra’s efforts in improving cricket infrastructure and promoting the game across the state.

He mentioned tournaments like the Maharashtra Premier League and the D.B. Deodhar Tournament as strong examples of the state’s vision.

He also said he was excited to play alongside experienced players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi, Ankit Bawne, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Mukesh Choudhary.

MCA President Rohit Pawar said Shaw’s presence would add great strength to an already talented team.

“We are delighted to welcome a player of Prithvi Shaw’s calibre,” Pawar said. “His experience in international cricket and the IPL will be valuable for our young players.”

Pawar also thanked the MCA Apex Council and the Cricket Advisory Committee for their support in bringing Shaw into the squad.
