“Phir Bolega Dhyan Nahi Tha”: Jadeja Mocks KL Rahul After Catch Drop During IND vs ENG 3rd Test
Jadeja cheekily warns KL Rahul over poor slip catching during the Lord’s Test; Rahul drops Jamie Smith again on Day 2.
India are facing England in the third Test of the five-match series at Lord’s, and while the contest has been tight, India’s fielding has once again come under the spotlight.
KL Rahul, who has already dropped multiple catches in the series, found himself at the receiving end of a cheeky warning from Ravindra Jadeja on Day 1. The moment came during the 80th over of England’s innings, with Jadeja bowling to Joe Root.
Jadeja’s On-Field Warning to KL Rahul
Just as Jadeja was about to deliver the ball, he noticed KL Rahul wasn’t fully focused at first slip. He immediately stopped and had a few words for the senior player.
“KL dekh le, phir bolega dhyan nahi tha,” Jadeja said, reminding him of a dropped catch in the previous Test.
Rahul, who had earlier defended a miss off Brydon Carse in the second Test by saying he wasn’t ready, could only respond with a quiet, “Thank you.”
Rahul Drops Another On Day 2
Despite Jadeja’s warning, KL Rahul dropped another catch on the second day. He put down Jamie Smith at second slip off Mohammed Siraj when the batter was on just 5.
The drop proved costly. Smith and Brydon Carse went on to build a solid partnership, taking the game away from India at a key stage.
Fielding Concerns Remain
KL Rahul’s slip fielding has now become a talking point, as India cannot afford such lapses in closely contested matches. Jadeja’s jab may have been in good humour, but it underlines a serious issue that could hurt India in the long run.
