PCB to Fire Entire Selection Committee, Including Wahab Riaz, After T20 World Cup Exit
PCB likely to sack Wahab Riaz & Co. after Pakistan’s disappointing T20 World Cup performance.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is likely to sack the entire selection committee of the Pakistan cricket team, including Chief Selector Wahab Riaz, following their underwhelming performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The Pakistan cricket team suffered their second consecutive early exit in an ICC tournament, following their elimination in the group stage of the ODI World Cup 2023 and their failure to advance to the Super Eight in the T20 World Cup 2024.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the PCB is expected to overhaul its seven-member selection committee. Additionally, chief selector and former Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz may also step down.
Gary Kirsten, recently named Pakistan’s head coach, also slammed Babar Azam & Co. for their poor performance throughout the tournament. He even went on to expose the team’s lack of unity.
At this stage, even Babar Azam’s role as captain is up for debate, and it’s unclear whether he will remain at the helm of the Pakistan cricket team or if the PCB will take decisive action.
