PCB Appoints Shan Masood As Consultant for International Cricket
Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood appointed PCB Consultant for International Cricket and Players’ Affairs while continuing as captain.
Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has been given a new role at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). On Friday, October 24, the PCB announced that Masood will serve as Consultant for International Cricket and Players’ Affairs.
The announcement came a day after Pakistan suffered a heavy loss against South Africa in Rawalpindi.
The appointment is unusual because Masood is still an active player. It gives him a position of authority off the field while he continues to lead the team on it.
Sources say PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made the decision during a dinner meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Masood recently captained Pakistan in a two-Test series against South Africa. He played a key innings in the first match in Lahore, scoring a half-century that helped Pakistan win by 93 runs.
However, Pakistan lost the second Test in Rawalpindi by eight wickets, which meant the series ended in a 1-1 draw.
Now, Masood faces the challenge of balancing two big responsibilities. On one side, he must guide the team as captain.
On the other, he will have a say in player management and international cricket matters for the PCB. Experts say handling both roles will test his leadership skills both on and off the field.
