After the high-profile match between the India Champions and Pakistan Champions was called off, controversy has erupted over how the points should be distributed.

India, led by former stars like Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan, refused to take the field due to national sentiments following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Out of respect for the victims and public mood, the players reportedly told WCL organisers they were unwilling to face Pakistan.

The organisers had no choice but to cancel the match. They also issued an apology to Indian players and fans, acknowledging the emotional weight of the situation.

However, the Pakistan Champions were far from pleased when they were told the points would be split.

According to ANI, Pakistan raised objections, saying they were ready to play and India backed out, so they should be awarded both points.

“Pakistan Champions are not in favour of sharing points. They didn’t withdraw, India did,” a source told ANI.

Team owner Kamil Khan also spoke out. “We deserve two points. India refused to play. If we meet again in the final, that’s when the organisers can decide what to do,” he said.

Pakistan began their WCL 2025 campaign with a close five-run win over England. They next face South Africa. India, meanwhile, will return to action on Tuesday when they take on the Proteas.
