‘Pakistan Me Rehna Hai’ – Misbah-Ul-Haq Forced to Pick Babr Azam & Co. As Favourites in T20 World Cup 2024

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has joined the chorus of predictions for the T20 World Cup 2024, which kicks off today in the United States and the Caribbean.

During a discussion on Star Sports with Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan, Misbah named Australia as the team to beat, citing their consistent performance and ability to win under pressure, even in unfamiliar conditions.

Later, the former Pakistan cricketer jokingly added the Babar Azam-led side as his second choice, stating he has to pick it as he has to live in Pakistan.

“Australia are the safest bet,” said Misbah on Star Sports. “They are proven winners, even winning in Asia with just one spinner. You can’t count them out. The second team is a tough call, but you know, ‘Humein Pakistan mein rehna hai toh Pakistan ko back karna hoga’ (We have to back Pakistan if we want to live here). India has a strong team too, with everything going for them.”

Pakistan’s form leading up to the World Cup has been a cause for concern. After a surprising loss to Ireland, they secured a win, but a subsequent series defeat against England exposed weaknesses in their batting order.

They will however, have a chance to regroup as they take on USA in their opening match on June 6th. On the other hand, the much anticipated India versus Pakistan will be played on 9th June in New York.
