Ollie Robinson All Set To Return To Cricket To Play For Sussex After ECB Suspension
Ollie Robinson is all set to back in action for Sussex after suspension from international cricket by ECB.
England Pacer Ollie Robinson will return to cricket to play for Sussex’s second team in a T20 match against Hampshire after the suspension from International Cricket by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
“Sussex in an official statement said, Mitch Claydon is added to the Sharks squad as cover for the trip to Chelmsford. Henry Crocombe will not travel and will play in Sussex’s behind-closed-doors Second XI T20 matches against Hampshire at The 1st Central County Ground instead. Henry will be joined by Ollie Robinson in the second team. Ollie makes his return to cricket after taking a short break last week.”
Last week, Ollie Robinson decided to take a short break from cricket after the suspension from all form of international cricket by ECB.
“After a difficult week, Ollie has decided to take a short break from the game to spend time with his young family,” said Sussex in an official statement.
“Player and staff welfare, including mental health and wellbeing, is a priority for the club and, as such, Sussex Cricket fully supports Ollie in his decision,” the statement said.
“When he is ready to return, Ollie will be welcomed back to the club, where discussions with the remainder of the squad over the last week have made clear that he retains the support of all his Sussex teammates,” it said.
“We remain in close contact with Ollie from a welfare perspective and will issue further updates on his availability at the relevant times,” it added.
Last week, the outcome of a disciplinary investigation against the tweet posted in 2012 & 2013 by Ollie Robinson led him to suspension from all form of cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The tweet Robinson posted eight years ago as a teenager, containing racist & sexist remarks to which Ollie Robinson had unreservedly apologised and admitted that he is ashamed of making such statements in 2012-13 resurfaced on social media.
Ollie Robinson made debut against New Zealand earlier this month in the first of the two-match Test series. Robinson performed brilliantly in that match, taking 7 wickets and contributing 42 runs for England.
However, his fantastic performance is never being the element of bias and the ECB suspended him from all form of international cricket.
